How I study in college while working for  8 to 9 hours a day:

In today's fast-paced world, many students or young people have to juggle both their studies and jobs. Studying while working can be a challenge, but with proper planning and time management, it becomes possible. There are so many students who prefer to work part-time or full-time to meet the requirements of their career life and ambition.

When I matriculated and expressed my feelings to my parents that I want to continue study and get graduate degree, my mother grumbled that there is no extra income that will given away to you for college study, for being poor financial condition.  They suggested joining some part-time job, if you wants to study further. 

Nowadays, the importance of education has increased a lot. A learner needs knowledge, skills and confidence. Moreover, it was a big shock for me to have a good education. My mother educated me in college.

My mother thought college education was expensive and unnecessary. She thought I should just work at home and help the family. She thought that college education would not help me stand on my own two feet.

But I felt that I needed to get a college education. I wanted to gain knowledge and skills for my future. I felt very sad about my mother's decision. But I didn't give up. I tried to explain to my mother how important education is. I told her that a college education would give me better opportunities in my future.  I told her that I wanted to stand on my own two feet and that I needed an education for that.  My mother did not change my mind. She decided not to let me study in college. But I did not give up. I continued my education through my own efforts. I did many online courses and gained knowledge myself.  Now I feel my mother's decision was wrong. I think she should realize the importance of education. Education not only develops the individual, but also the society.

In the meantime, my uncle (i.e. my mother's brother in-law), who was well educated and working on top class post of State Government, came in Pune city on transfer, came to our house, to greet me and ask me my future career life.  I told him the reality that my parents are against college education, due to the poor financial condition of the family. My uncle advised my parents that if as per his ambition, he is to study further, then you should not become hurdle and let him to work part-time for college education. My parent agreed upon the advise and allow me to go for college education.

I started looking for the part-time job and got the accountant's job at one of the construction companies. The company offered me the salary that was sufficient for me to meet the expenditure on my college education. Thus, I got the part-time job.

I got admission in the junior college for a commerce degree, and the timing for the college was from 7am to 10:30 am, which was sufficient to accommodate my part-time job, but after a few days, my parents started asking for more earnings for family expenditure. So, I joined some private certificate course for TV and VCR repairing so that I could earn more money. After completing this certificate course, I began searching for some service centers, repairing TVs and VCRs so that I could get some practical experience in TV and VCR repair. Few service centers accepted my offer and replied to come after 2 to 3 months, and a few of them flatly declined to accept it for no vacancy or recommendation letters. 

My daily routine for studying college education was from 7am to 10:30am, service center from 11am to 4pm, part-time accountant's job from 5pm to 8pm, and after dinner, college studies or semester study from 9pm to 12pm. The morning wake-up call was set at 5am for college studies. 

The weather can drastically change your education and study options. Mindfulness is a kind of fun! I remember the fun there, from hitting the line to passing time by sitting on the nose while doing a ler bunk. From the hassle of finding nicknames for the begging professors to the hassle of staying up all night when the exam time is 'very close'. Every college student should do this. The real fun lies in doing what needs to be done at the right time.

Student life is the eighth golden sign, the unequal caste, and indeed it is true. My student life is the most beautiful and sweetest period of my life. But day after day, my concentration was changed to earning money.  During this time, I learned a lot, gained experience, made friends, and had a lot of fun. Those memories are still fresh in my mind and bring a sweet smile to my face whenever I recall them.

I used to set an alarm at night and wake up at 5am daily.  Sometimes, it was tiresome to accept a wake-up call due to a tight schedule for the day. Day by day, the work of handling air cylinders to fit to the machine for filling up and setting them in a row for allotment was laborious and tough. My age was 19 years and lifting up air cylinders and handling them was becoming burdensome and strenuous. A shoulder and neck pain started developing up, was a painful experience. I told my brother about the change of job, but in vain. I started searching for some change of job instead of this laborious job, and call was received for an interview of the typist's post.  I appeared for the interview, requesting a half-day leave, as the company was far away place in an industrial area. 

After 11th or SSC, I joined typing institute for typing test and become successful within 3 months of training and examination for 60 w.p.m, following which I joined a certificate course of TV repair for 3 months and got the certificate.   I had a certificate course in hand for type and TV repair, but I had no practical experience for the job. Continuing with the same tight schedule and labor, I appeared for the HSC examination. A difficulty in college study was that I studied 11th Commerce in Marathi Medium and 12th Commerce in English. I used to do by heart a paragraph after paragraph if I could not understand the textbook in English while in 12th.

I passed my HSC examination, or 12th, successfully, but the company that employed me for the job was given a temporary break. I started the job of TV repair in full swing along with assembling TV set with the TV kits available in the market. The work of assembling the TV set was profiteering and I used to get the orders from local market. 

In the meantime, I got the admission for 1st year Commerce degree course of 3 years, at nearby local college, and I got a full-time job in the company office for typing and other work on a temporary basis. 

So, my daily time schedule was :

1.  Commerce College, from 7am to 10.30am,

2.  Office work from 11am to 5.30pm with lunch break at 1pm

3. Accountant's job from 6pm to 8pm, or TV repair.

4.  Dinner time at 9pm and home-work for study from 10pm to 1am.,

5.  Sleeping between 1am to 5pm with Wake-up call at 5am mornig
